Every day we appreciate the beauty and wear resistance of decorative coatings in our kitchens and bathrooms. Chromium plate, whether with high lustre, bright or luxurious satin finishes provide an easy to clean, low maintenance surface that will continue to provide corrosion resistance in high humidity areas for many years.
For MacDermid the key starts with correct preparation. Metal surfaces are cleaned and activated in Metex pretreatment systems. For plastic substrate MacuPlex provides the metalization and excellent adhesion required prior to electroplating.
CuMac copper to level out any surface imperfections provides the first layer, followed by NiMac nickel to give the mirror bright or satin effect prior to chromium plating. In areas of particular high humidity, multi layer nickel is applied, providing increased corrosion resistance.
Today chromium can be applied as a final mirror bright finish, in a ‘smoky’ chrome look, or the latest in plated metal coatings - dark chromium. These fashion finishes benefit from being plated from trivalent electrolytes, much safer alternatives than traditional processes containing hexavalent chrome! The latest Fashion Finishes are ELV, RoHS and WEEE compliant.
