Hard chrome seminar February - UK
MacDermid Enthone held their UK seminar for hard chrome platers in the Birmingham facility.
Guess speakers included Sue Bullock (Rambol Environ) and Tom Stoakes (John Stoakes) who spoke about REACH legislation from a legislative and user perspective respectively.
MacDermid Enthone also introduced their latest technology including PFOS-free spray suppressant.
gm - plating in plastics and decorative training
As part of our Decoguard Automotive strategy, MacDermid Enthone held a further ‘Plating on Plastics and Decorative’ training program for one of the largest global vehicle manufacturers General Motors in Detroit, Michigan, USA.
These training sessions are exceptionally popular with both automotive engineers. Specifically, the training provided basics on the metallization of plastics and the subsequent copper / nickel / chromium layers including the coating characteristics and plating mechanisms. Key influencers (e.g. chemistry, current, substrate) of coating performance were examined, along with a detailed review of commonly encountered plating defects (cause, effect, resolution).
Additionally, best practices on how to enhance the plated part quality were detailed. Read More>>
Indirect Services, Supplier of The Year
During the Spectrum Brands HHI’s annual charity event to benefit of Children’s Hospitals of Orange County; our team, represented by Mike Goralski, Emilio Pedral, Thomas Dean, and Mike Fortuna; received the award “Indirect Services, Supplier of The Year – 2016” in recognition for achieving excellence in the areas of Value, Quality and Customer Service.

MacDermid Enthone held the 1st Asian ZinKlad Summit in Suzhou Technical Center on Oct 11th 2016.
During this summit, Macdermid Enthone shared some new application processes for the ZinKlad program. They explained that ZinKlad applicators in the automotive supply chain can look forward to even more value-added technical support in the coming months!
Ford - Plating on Plastics and Decorative Training
As part of our Decoguard Automotive strategy, MacDermid Enthone held our latest ‘Plating on Plastics and Decorative’ training program at one of the largest global vehicle manufacturers FORD in Dearborn, Michigan, USA.
ZinKlad On the Go…USA, Mexico & Canada Summit
Dearborn, Michigan provided the perfect location to host the latest ZinKlad summit.
As well as the region having some 20 ZinKlad Approved Applicators it is also the hub of the North America automotive manufacturing and dependent supply chain.
Following the acquisition of Enthone by our mother company PSP (Platform Specialty Products) we have integrated and harmonized our best in class products and business processes for the ZinKlad system. This seminar was the first of a series to explain and update our comprehensive global supplier base about the new technologies and tools now available to them as a result of the acquisition.
Brake Forum, Japan, November 2016
As a leading global supplier to the Brake industry, MacDermid Enthone Industrial Solutions (MEIS) are delighted that Dr. Björn Dingwerth (Director Strategic Marketing Anti Corrosion) will be presenting his paper
Advanced finishes for brake components and other castings at the Brake Forum, Japan, November, 29, 2016
Zinc-nickel has shown to be an excellent coating material for corrosion protection of cast iron hydraulic brake components while being cost competitive with other alternatives.
Corrosion protection is far from being the sole advantage the zinc-nickel alloy bears compared to other alternatives. There are many other beneficial properties in this zinc-nickel alloy that account for an even faster pace the share of components finished with zinc-nickel grows at in these days.
The demand for zinc-nickel in brake finishing today is served with the existing state-of-the art mainly acidic plating processes and final finish post-treatment products. Those processes today already achieve a very good quality level.
Innovative solutions introduced in the key process steps now contribute to consistently achieving an even higher quality level while saving cost and material.

Market analysis shows that up to 10% of coatings on a vehicle are directly related to the vehicles braking system. Components typically coated include calipers / carriers, pistons and rotors. Additionally, MEIS supply inter-operational cleaners, lubricants and quench oils, which can all support the casting, machining and cleaning of braking components.

Due to market demand, MacDermid Enthone are delighted to announce the launch of ZinKlad 72. This is a unique approach to improve both quality and consistency for the phosphating of automotive fasteners including:
- Heavy weight zinc - for corrosion resistant finishes with modified coefficient of friction
- Micro-crystalline zinc as an undercoat for subsequent organic finishes
- Manganese for wear resistance
MacDermid Enthone have taken the best in class KeyKote phosphating products and integrated them with the world leading ZinKlad auditing program to create this unique performance level. Read More >
