Polyetherimide (PEI or Ultem) is a strong, heat resistant plastic which in some applications can replace metals such as steel and aluminum. These properties make it useful for applications such as automotive an moulded inconnect devises. However electroplating this material has proved very difficult due to poor adhesion and low yield rates. Until now.....
MacuPlex SA enables metallization of PEI with consitent results and high adhesion strength. The system avoids the use of chromic / sulphuric acid etching to achieve the surface funcionlization required. Typically adhesion strength is increased by some 4X on materials such as Ultem 1000, 2200, 2300 & 2400 (when compared to traditional wet methods).
