MacDermid UK is located in Birmingham at the heart of the global metal finishing industry. Our 9,000m² facility houses the R&D, process demonstration, customer service laboratories and manufacturing departments. This enables us to meet the needs of our customers by developing, testing, servicing and supplying our products from one location.

One of the most important aspects of the facility’s functions is “customer driven innovation”, coordinated through customer workshops and technical partnerships. The outcome of these are translated into priority projects to develop new processes that meet these marker needs. The final result of this partnership can be seen in the products people use everyday. From cars to celluar phones, from plumbing to personal computers, our solutions enhance, protect and add functionality.

Our new Technical Centre and Process Demonstration facility, specifically designed to develop and support our customers, covers over 700m2. It houses more than 50 customer demonstration processes (for example zinc, nickel, plating on plastic and lacquering) as well as advanced analysis and test equipment including:

• Scanning electron microscope with EDXA function
• Corrosion testing - CASS, NSS and Cyclic corrosion
• X-Ray thickness measurement
• IR & UV Spectrometry & ICP chemical analysis
• Instron tensile tester & Micro hardness tester
• STEP testing
• L.A.B colour measurement,
• Torque-tension testing

Industrial Solutions are used by coating applicators and metal working companies for cleaning, decorating, protecting and lubricating metals. Our products can be seen in applications such chrome plated wheels, fasteners and computer disc drives.

Electronics Solutions supply innovative, environmentally-sound products to a rapidly changing electronics marketplace. We research and formulate specialty chemicals that enable the manufacture of the most complex printed circuit board designs.
